[Shu should've known he'd find the videos. Valkyrie has more videos available online with Nito than without; he was with them for so long, after all. At the beginning, and at the height of their popularity, there stood Nito, suspended by his strings. Of course this was bound to happen.

But between all their recent shows, and all Shu's costume assignments, and his post-graduation plans, and his concerns about Kagehira, and Riddle and Riddle's sorcery, and the strange situations he and Riddle kept finding themselves in, and the Unbirthday and everything else... Shu honestly hasn't had time to think of Nito much at all recently.

He drops his gaze to the table. His eyes are downcast, forehead creased. To be asked that question so innocently feels quite unpleasant indeed.

He's no longer with Valkyrie. To call us "friends" would be laughable.

[Nito would surely be offended at the suggestion. Shu's convinced himself of that.

His mood has definitely soured, in spite of all the ongoing festivities. He is aware, however, that Riddle meant no harm and couldn't have known better. It would be best for them to shelve this matter and resume their previous discussion. So, that's what he does.

As I was saying... there are four people I consider to be old friends. [Never mind that "old" means about a year in this case.] We were grouped together as performers and given a strange title: the "five eccentrics." Though that name hasn't been relevant in some time.

[He waves a hand.]

I was never keen on being lumped in with them. To start with, my behavior is far less abnormal than theirs. But I suppose... we are similar in some respects. They stand out from the masses, and are gifted in their own right.
