[It's cool. The stripping of Shu's own title, and his own ensuing descent into madness, are subjects he's also deemed unfit for conversation—especially with Riddle. Perhaps it's futile, seeing as they both keep getting forced into unpleasant situations designed to strip them of their dignity, but Shu wants Riddle to think the best of him. To see him as someone strong, reliable and wise, like an older brother or a teacher.

(Never mind that the reliable wise guy in question is currently attempting to converse with a doll...)

Riddle's last words left Shu with more questions—questions about what it means to be "King," and what it means specifically for that bespectacled man to be King while Riddle serves as Queen. (Hopefully it means nothing untoward.) But those questions will have to wait for another time, as Shu is easily distracted by Mademoiselle's reappearance.

Ever the worrywart, Shu had been concerned that Mademoiselle would get smashed to pieces just like the tea sets. But he finds himself satisfied with Riddle's assurances about her safety. Riddle's promises aren't excessive in his book; laying down one's life seems like a perfectly understandable course of action in order to protect his precious doll. He normally dislikes threats of violence, but if something did happen to her, he'd be liable to carry out those public beheadings himself. So, in response:

Surely you aren't talking about soldiers made from playing cards? You must not have heard the expression "to fall like a house of cards." Nonetheless, I'll take your word for it. I won't worry any longer about our safety here.

[In the past few minutes he's noticed that Riddle seems to have the people here well-trained. Which is for the best; Riddle isn't always right, but Shu believes he's a bright young man who deserves to be listened to.

He turns back to Mademoiselle, eyeing the soap bubble with interest.
]

I assume this bubble is enchanted; it has some sort of protective field around it, yes? That's all well and good. But why don't you come down now? Your place at the table is empty; you could sit on your cushion and enjoy the proceedings.

[Mademoiselle responds in her usual chirpy tone.]

It's nice of you to consider me, Shu-kun, but I've been enjoying the party from inside here. Fufu, it's kind of fun to float around ♫ I might not get this opportunity again, so I'd rather keep enjoying it. You should just focus on your conversation with Riddle-chan, okay? There was something he wanted to know about... I think it was your "best friends"?

[With that, Shu looks back at Riddle again, the look in his eyes questioning.]

Is that true? You wish to know about my friends?
